Catalina Bedroom Collection
The Catalina Bedroom Collection is durable, high-quality furniture that’s designed with kids in mind. Detailed features include beadboard paneling, ball finials and veneers that provide a flawless surface. The paint is child-safe and water-based.
The bed comes in twin or full with four color choices. A twin over twin bunk bed is another option in this collection. It has two guardrails and a ladder that attaches to either side. The twin bunks can convert to two individual beds. Bedding with quilted fabric is comfy and comes in prints that kids love. Pom pom and ruffled fabric adds texture. Classic characters like mermaids, hearts and unicorns are wonderful patterns for the beds. The puffy fabric is plush and warm. Plus it’s simple to make up the bed because the puffiness hides any wrinkles. Just toss it up and go, so kids can learn to make their beds early on.
Place a nightstand by the bed for convenience. The shelves can hold bedtime reading books, a glass of water for the night and a lamp for extra light. The table lamps we have at Pottery Barn Kids are fabulously fun decorating accessories. The base of the lamp might be a miniature truck or an airplane. Or it might be a railroad crossing sign, a rocket or a crystal ball. These are designed with kids in mind with great attention to detail.
Two dressers are available in this line. A standard dresser has two long and two short drawers. An extra wide dresser has four long and three short drawers. All the drawers have waxed wood glides, English dovetail joinery and round knobs that are easy to grab. Hang a mirror over the dresser for getting ready and combing hair each day. Choose from mirrors framed with flower petal designs, bunny or kitty shapes or rectangular mirrors with gold butterflies along the frame. The mirrors are practical and decoratively purposeful. The fun shapes and sizes of the mirrors are sure to reflect the positives to the faces peering through.
An additional chest of drawers gives plenty of storage space for folded clothes and extra toys. It has four long and two short drawers with round knobs. A finely-crafted rug placed in the center of the room pulls all the furniture together. It can draw colors out to enhance the decor. The rug also provides a soft cushion for feet or playing on the floor. Round and rectangle shapes have a variety of muted prints and bold patterns. Mosaic and diamond designs exude a free-spirited vibe while braided rugs feel kind of retro. Choose what works best for your kid’s personality. Many of these accessories can grow with your child for years to come.
A bookcase can encourage reading and collecting books. The three shelves can hold an abundance of books, trophies and memorabilia. Hang an encouraging sign over the bookcase. The sign might be made of wire or flags that have cute sayings. Or it might be a light or a string of banners.
To inspire learning, a desk is a great piece of furniture to include in the bedroom. There are several options with a low hutch or a high hutch for extra storage. Keep a metal or stoneware trash can by the desk for easy disposal of discarded paper and empty water bottles or soda cans. The trash cans are built to be sturdy and are simple to wipe out and clean. Solid colors, scalloped edges and cans with writing are options. You could always get two cans to hold recyclable items in one and non-recyclable in the other.
