Stuffing-on-a-Stick

  • Food is always more fun when it's on a stick. Fall favorites — like sweet potatoes and cranberries — are featured in this simple recipe that takes a Thanksgiving staple and makes it more kid friendly than ever before.

A handful of delicious ingredients, plus several helpings of fun. This unique way to serve stuffing is a hit with kids and grown-ups alike.

Ingredients

  • Skewers
  • Whole grain loaf bread
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Cranberries or grapes
  • Butter
  • Chicken stock
  • Apples
  • Maple syrup
  • Salt & pepper

Preparation

  • Cube bread into 1 inch squares.

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan. Saute cubed bread over medium heat until it starts to brown and crisp. Add 1-2 tablespoons of chicken stock and saute for a few minutes more. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Cut sweet potatoes and green apples in 1/2 in. cubes. Lightly coat with olive oil and maple syrup, kosher salt and pepper. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes to soften.

  • Skewer bread cubes, sweet potatoes, apples and cranberries or grapes.

  • Bake skewers in the oven at 300 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
