Little Cowboy: Western Baby Shower Ideas
You just heard the news: There’s a baby on the way, and you can’t wait to acknowledge the event by throwing a baby shower! But of course, you don’t want to throw just any baby shower. You want it to be memorable and unique, with a fun theme to tie the whole thing together. That’s why we’ve compiled several ideas for a Western-themed baby shower.
One of the fun aspects of planning a cowboy baby shower is that the Western theme really lends itself to many interpretations. You could go all-out cowboy, from cowboy hats to silver spurs, incorporating iconic Western elements into every aspect of your decorations. From the tableware to the refreshments, everything can be on-theme. Or, you could choose just a couple of aspects to accentuate, like cactus and cattle. You could even have potted succulents around the table as decor, or give them to your guests as party favors. Get creative!
If any of the guests are bringing their kids along, consider having a special spot for them to hang out and play. You can even make this fun space fit your Western-themed baby shower by setting up a teepee for them.
While you decorate the table, try to find napkins, tablecloths and other tableware that fit into your cowboy theme. Think about having bandanna prints on the plates, fun cowboy glasses and napkin rings with badges glued to them. For your centerpiece, you could have an arrangement of toy horses, the cake (if you choose to have one) or even the gifts for your guest of honor! Having trouble thinking of a gift? No worries. If the guest of honor already has a name chosen, make your gift even more special and personalize it!
When you are working with a well-defined theme, it’s simple to find a variety of treats for your dessert table that can be easily customized to reflect the theme, and that all your guests will enjoy. A rootin’-tootin’ Western theme is especially easy to work with! For example, you could have a cake decorated with Western images such as horses, cowboy hats, boots and cattle, maybe with a fondant cowboy topper! Or, you could try a cake that’s on the more simple side and choose just one Western motif to serve as inspiration.
The same goes for other delicious Western baby shower invitations and treats, as well. Because sugar cookies are so versatile and simple to decorate, you can try your hand at an entire batch of cowboy cookies. If cake is more your style but you’d rather not commit to an elaborately decorated dessert, there’s no reason you can’t do cupcakes, instead. You might also consider filling in your dessert table with smaller bites like cake pops, macarons or doughnut holes! As long as the decorations or the colors of the treats fit your theme, you are good to go!
Of course, one of the best ways to end a party is with party favors, and Western baby shower favors are no exception. If you’re the crafty type or the party’s going to be a small one with only the guest of honor’s closest friends, you can try your hand at completely handcrafted party favors. A treat bag of brownies would be perfect, or you could decorate jars and fill them with the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies. If crafty favors aren’t really your thing, or if the party’s on the larger side, you can’t go wrong with country music CDs for the crowd. Or, as we mentioned before, you could send your guests home with a succulent apiece. Fun, pretty and long-lasting!
