Robin Arzón’s
Modern Glam Nursery

Ashlee Simpson Ross’ Modern Boho Nursery

As a Peloton instructor, the last thing Robin Arzón wanted to do was break a sweat when she was designing her nursery. To help her maintain forward momentum without losing focus, she enlisted Pottery Barn Kids’ Design Crew team to help her make it to the finish line. One big request? A nursery that allowed her to slow down and take in the amazing views from her New York apartment. “We wanted a space that didn’t compete with the view of New York City and our floor-to-ceiling windows,” she says.

“Invest in pieces that allow you to stay organized. We made sure that each piece has a dual purpose.

With that in mind, Arzón’s main priority was finding the right crib for her daughter, one that wouldn’t obstruct the skyline. “It was crucial that Athena could see out of the crib. Her view is stunning, and I want her to feel like that room is welcoming,” Arzón says. Design Expert Shawn Phaby knew immediately which model would work best in the room. The two landed on the Sloan Acrylic Convertible Crib, which has clear, acrylic slates and a base crafted from eucalyptus wood. From there, it was easy to work outward and fill the space with grounding accents that provided peace — with a hit of glam. “I’m not afraid of bling,” Arzón admits. “Our home is intended to entertain and feel lived-in but luxe.”

Function was another big-ticket item on Arzón’s wish list, so every piece needed to be multifunctional as well as stylish. In order to make the most of her New York City square footage, she chose the Gemma Nursery Dresser with bold brass accents; it doubles as a changing table with a topper that can be removed as Athena transitions to a big-kid space. All of the pieces are meant to seamlessly blend with the rest of the house. Even the GREENGUARD Gold Certified Tufted Daybed with Trundle looks elevated and provides extra seating or a guest bed when needed. The tufted linen blend fabric adds a bit of stylized whimsy to the prints and geometric elements thoughtfully chosen for each area of the room. Arzón didn’t want the space to feel “overly kiddie,” so that it could become more than just a nursery when her family visits. “Invest in pieces that allow you to stay organized,” Arzón explains. “We made sure that each piece has a dual purpose.”

Brass and gold accents give the feeling of elevated minimalism and add the luxe touch Arzón had in mind when she embarked on this design journey. The darker tones in the metals also beautifully juxtapose and soften the vast cityscape seen from the floor-to-ceiling windows, making the room feel almost cloud-like. With plush animal toys sprinkled throughout, the space is transformed into a much friendlier version of the urban jungle down below.

Finishing off the space is a quiet corner where Arzón and Athena can unwind and read in the Phoenix Rocker at the end of a busy day. Acrylic Wall Shelves house keepsakes from travel (Arzón’s biggest source of inspiration), children’s books and personal mementos. Together, it all creates exactly what Arzón wanted.

“I wanted a place that my baby can play, grow and appreciate good design.
