Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our Equity Action Committee at Williams Sonoma Inc. was established in June 2020 to lead the implementation of our Equity Action Plan.
The purpose of the plan is to create a set of actions that will drive positive change in the fight against racial injustice.

We Are Committed To

  • supporting non-profit
    organizations that
    advocate for
    racial justice

We're donating to the NAACP, the
    Jackie Robinson Foundation and the
    National Urban League, and developing
    meaningful partnerships with them on
issues focused on educational, social and
    economic equality.

  • increasing black
    representation at
    all levels of our
    company

    We're diversifying our workforce by
    partnering with Historically Black Colleges,
Universities and Organizations to reach and
foster Black talent. We're expanding our
vendors and suppliers to include more
    Black-owned businesses and are collaborating
    with Black artists and designers.

  • reinforcing a
    culture of inclusion
    through awareness
    and education

    We developed a company-wide education
program covering bias, inclusion and cultural
competence. We are commited to creating
    a safe, nurturing environment where
    associates and leaders invite diversity
and foster inclusion, creating a platform for
the Black experience to be heard.

meet our partners

In our ongoing commitment to fight for positive change and racial justice, we've partnered with renowned
non-profit organizations that support the advancement of African American and Black youth.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), founded in 1909, is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights
organization in the nation.

We're partnering with NAACP on the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics
(ACT-SO), a yearlong empowerment program designed to recruit, stimulate and encourage high academic
and cultural achievement among African American high school students.

higher education and the workplace.

JRF provides generous four-year scholarships and extensive support services, including career guidance
and internship placement. Since 1973, JRF has disbursed over $95 million in grants and direct support to

The Conscious Kid (TCK) is an education, research and policy organization
dedicated to equity and promoting healthy racial identity development in youth.

We've partnered with TCK to curate bundles of kids' books by and about people of color. TCK makes
it easy for families, organizations and educators to access children's books that not only reflect
kids of color, but affirm and empower their identities.

how you can help

All donations made here go to a dedicated fund for TCK to get children's books from their list of “40 Children's Books to Support Conversations on Race, Racism, and Resistance” into classrooms across the country.
