Natural Egg Dye
For a fun, creative alternative to typical Easter–egg dyes, use vegetables, tea and fruit to bring your eggs to life. Not only is this project sure to wow kids, it's an interesting lesson in the natural world. As a fun game, choose a natural dye, then have kids guess what color the eggs will turn out. They might be surprised by a few of the results!
Making the Eggs
1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add eggs, cover the pot and remove from heat. Let them sit for 10–12 minutes.
2. Place eggs in a pot of cool water to stop cooking. Add a splash of white vinegar.
3. Add your source of natural dye to the pot. Bring to a boil for about 10 minutes or until the eggs have reached the desired richness of color. Remove eggs with tongs and let dry.
