Star Cake Pops

  • Cake Pops are one of the most popular treats for parties! This delicious recipe from one of our favorite bakers is sure to please! For the perfect finishing touch, add cute stars to the front of the cake pops to match the party perfectly!

For a cute decorative touch, use coordinating striped paper straws for the cake pop sticks.

Ingredients - Cupcakes

  • 1 box cake mix and ingredients to bake the cake
  • 16 oz frosting
  • Colored melting Chocolate wafers (these can be found at your local craft store)

Special Equipment

  • Microwave
  • 9x13 cake pan
  • mixing bowl
  • glass bowl
  • wax paper
  • sheet pan
  • Striped straws to serve as lollipop sticks!


  • Bake cake as directed on box in a 9x13 inch pan.

  • Once the cake has cooled completely crumble into mixing bowl until the cake turns into fine crumbs.

  • Soften your frosting by stirring it really well and then mix it into the crumbled cake mixture.

  • Mix with your hands until you can form the cake and frosting mixture into firm balls.

  • Place balls onto a sheet pan lined with wax paper and put in the freezer to set for 35 minutes.

  • Pour the chocolate wafers into a glass bowl and put in microwave for 30 seconds at a time stirring constantly until smooth and melted.

  • Dip the ends of the straws into your melted chocolate and press into center of cake balls securing your cake ball to the stick.

  • Dip your cake ball in the melted chocolate making sure to coat the whole cake ball and let excess chocolate drip back into glass bowl.

  • Set cake pops on wax paper and let the chocolate harden completely.

  • Melt another color of chocolate wafers- pour into a ziplock bag, and use the bag as a chocolate pen by snipping one of the corners of the bag with a pair of scissors.
