Office Meets a

Neutral Nursery

Hi! I’m Terra LaRock, blogger over at Love & LaRock where I write about motherhood, mindfulness, marriage, style, and soul. We built our nest in the bustling city of Denver, Colorado near our beloved Rocky Mountains. I am so honored to be partnering with Pottery Barn Kids featuring their new Pottery Barn Modern Baby collection to show you how we designed a space for our newest addition, Lennon, born October 21, 2018.

When we got pregnant with Lennon we had a choice to make on how we were going to utilize our three bedroom house to accommodate both our three-year-old daughter, Winter, and our new bundle of joy. My husband and I work from home so we had decided since we spend so much time in our basement offices we would shift things around to create a little oasis for Lennon to be in while we work. I am so thrilled with the way it turned out and I can’t wait to take you through it and feature the products used to create this space.

One thing to note before moving forward is that we did not know the gender of the baby before he was born. So we had to be really mindful to choose gender-neutral pieces that would be suitable for a boy or a girl. Finding pieces wasn’t difficult to do considering Pottery Barn has so many options.

So let’s dive in!

From a design standpoint, I think the easiest thing to do when designing a room is to find that one statement piece that speaks to you and then shop for other items that compliment it. For us, we gravitated toward the Sybil Dresser & Topper. I was immediately drawn towards the forest green color and thought the scalloped design on the drawers made this dresser unique.

Once we had our statement piece chosen we then picked complimentary colors to the dresser and began shopping for the other items. Since the dresser already had gold accents we chose gold as one of the complementary tones as well as shades of blue, green and white.

Our office space is relatively small so when I found this mid-century modern mini crib, I knew it would be perfect for our space. Lennon can rest in there while we work and it doesn’t take up much room. For the crib space we chose these simple white sheets, this elephant pillow and got the cutest blankets to compliment the space, ‘The Good At Naps’ and ‘Sleep Tight’ blankets. We are hoping that these blankets bring us magic sleep dust but aren’t counting on it since our little one is just three weeks old (hehe).

Our three-year-old is the stuffed animal queen and is currently learning the art of sharing. So that Lennon could start his own collection we got him the Plush collection complete with a Raccoon, Unicorn, Billy Goat and Bear. Winter already took over the unicorn and I am hoping little brother will be okay with that. :)

Pottery Barn Modern Baby has some wonderful options for storage. For now, we keep our baby blankets and Organic Watercolor Muslin Swaddle Set next to the crib in this Metallic Woven Wool Storage bin. I love the shimmer that is reflected off it when the light hits it just right. And for diapers, wipes, and cream, we use this diaper caddy.

For wall decor we wanted to keep it minimal but exciting. When I saw this "I'm New Here" LED Sentiment Wall Light, my heart skipped a beat a little and I knew that it would look great over the dresser. Lennon is mesmerized by the lights when we change him so it’s definitely the perfect placement for this piece. For over the crib we got this charming cloud fringe mirror and plan to hang this brass circles mobile as well!

To pull the room together we got this super soft hand-tufted wool rug. It is the perfect texture for tummy time. I imagine we will spend a lot of quality time laying on this rug.

We can’t thank Pottery Barn Modern Baby enough for helping us to create the perfect nursery nook for our son. The space feels inviting and has become one of our favorite rooms in our house. If you are on the hunt for some really unique and beautiful nursery or children’s room pieces, look no further. The Pottery Barn Modern Baby collection won’t disappoint!
