7 Easy & Tasty Sleepover Snacks & Treats

Sleepovers are such a fun part of growing up. Whether your child is younger, new to hosting sleepovers, or a sleepover veteran, you already know that one of the most important things to consider is planning the sleepover snacks. An evening of fort-buildingpillow fights and exciting game-playing means the kids are surely going to build up an appetite before tucking into their beds and sleeping bags. Chocolate Covered Popcorn

Chocolate-covered popcorn, one of our favorite sleepover snack ideas, is super-easy and only requires a couple ingredients. First, prepare the popcorn per package directions. Then melt the chocolate using either a microwave or a double boiler. Once the popcorn is cooked and the chocolate is melted, pour the chocolate over the popcorn and mix to distribute the chocolate evenly. If you want to make this a bit less messy, you can refrigerate this for an hour or until the chocolate hardens. This will also add a crunch to this sweet and salty goodness.

Snack Mix

This all-time sleepover classic is a typical snack mix of pretzels and some kind of cereal. Next, add other goodies like raisins, small crackers, chocolate or carob chunks, almonds or macadamia nuts or even wasabi peas for a spicy kick to this fun mix. You can serve this in a big bowl for the kids to share, or smaller individual bowls for each child. Either way, these mixes make great slumber party snacks.

S’mores Indoors

Who says you need to be out camping to enjoy s’mores? You can easily make s’mores at home in your kitchen. All you need is a cookie sheet and the same three ingredients you’d use for traditional s’mores: chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. Start by putting half of the graham crackers on a cookie sheet. Next, add a chocolate piece on top followed by a marshmallow. It’s easily to slice the marshmallow vertically in half works. Lastly, add the other half of the graham crackers on top. Bake in the oven until the marshmallows are golden and puffy. This should will only take a few minutes.

Mini Pizzas

Mini pizzas are classic sleepover treats and can make for a fun activity. You can choose whatever small bread or biscuit as the crust followed by tomato sauce, cheese and whatever toppings the kids would like. Cook them in the oven on a cookie sheet. Now you have a fun sleepover night snack that the kids will love to make!

Frozen Fruit Pops

This snack is great for a hot summer’s night and when you want to give the kids something special and healthy. If you’re feeling ambitious and have a juicer or blender in your kitchen, you can use strawberries, bananas or whatever other fruit the kids enjoy for these fruit pops. After mixing the fruit together into a juice, pour it into frozen pop molds. You can even add chunks of fruit to the molds before you filling it with juice to make these extra special.

Veggies and Hummus

Here's an easy, crunchy snack when you want to add something a little healthier. Slice up your favorite veggies–carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, yellow and red peppers– and serve with hummus. For the hummus, either pick it up from your favorite market or make a batch before the party. Making hummus at home is pretty easy. All you need is a can of chickpeas, a clove of garlic, 1/4 cup olive oil (or more to your taste), 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, a teaspoon of cumin and finally salt and paprika to taste. Blend these in a food processor until smooth and serve it with a drizzle of olive oil and paprika on top.

Fresh-Pressed Juice

After an exciting night, fresh orange juice can be a refreshing morning wake-me-up for the kids. Either manuel press or juice about a dozen oranges before serving it in a colorful pitcher over ice to brighten up the breakfast table.
