What makes kids love rugs? If their bedroom has wood floors, a big advantage of a soft rug is warm feet. When they have to use the bathroom early in the morning, it’s really nice to have something toasty to rest their toes on while they put on some slippers. Plus they don’t have to worry about slipping on a slick floor. And since kids like to sit on the floor when they play, having a comfy rug to sit on is a big plus. The same thing goes for playing video games with friends. A rug easily doubles as a place for everyone to get in on the action.
A high-quality rug makes parents happy too. For one thing, our rugs don’t use any harmful chemicals. Mom and dad rest easy knowing their kids are perfectly safe. They can have as much fun as they want, however they want. And that’s another benefit. Our wool and cotton rugs are easy to keep clean, no matter what kind of adventures your boy or girl dreams up. Natural fibers are soil and stain resistant, so they stay spotless longer. Strong fibers can handle all the tugging, tossing and jumping that kids dish out. Durable rugs stick around for a long time, making children feel right at home.
Not sure what size is right for your kids’ bedroom? To help you make the call, here are a few things to do first. Grab a measuring tape and see how much room you have to play around with in your children’s bedroom or playroom. If the room already has most of the furniture your kids need – like the bed, dresser and closet – and you’re happy with the layout, just measure the leftover floor space. Now that you know the max size you can go, it’s time to figure out where you want to place the rug. Check out these options.
If the room is big enough, you can put a rug underneath the whole bed. The rug sticks out on both sides and in front of the bed. For this, you need an 8’x10’ or 5’x8’ rug, depending on the size of the bed. This option looks great when your child’s bed is centered in the middle of the room. If their bed is pushed against one wall, another possibility is to place a runner next to it. A 3’x5’ size gives their feet a place to rest, and a 5’x8’ size covers a larger portion of the floor. A 3’x5’ rug also looks great at the foot of the bed, especially if they like to lean against it when they play or watch TV.
In a bedroom with a desk inside, you might put a 5’x8’ rug underneath it. That adds some fashion to the space, stimulates creative thinking and lightens the mood. It’s also practical. A rug keeps chairs from crushing carpet or grinding dirt into wood floors.
Remember that it’s OK to think outside the box. Oval or round rugs are even more playful. They’re also easier to fit into tight spaces. Pick out an exciting pattern, and get to decorating! A desktop lamp lets kids finish their homework if it gets dark early. Plus playful shapes and colors make youngsters really happy.
