Everyone's a star at this glitzy, ceremonial-style birthday bash! Bring the Hollywood Hills to your own front yard and roll out the red carpet for your birthday kid and all his special guests.

Movie props are the key to pulling off this star-studded affair. Use white foam core to make your own replica of the Hollywood Hills sign and place on your front lawn using wire sign stakes. Run a long piece of red fabric from your front walk to the entrance of your house and line with chrome stanchions and red velvet ropes (available at party rental stores) to create a red-carpet runway. Hire a couple of friends as paparazzi and ask them to shoot digital photos of each guest as they arrive. Inside the house set up a "screening room" – borrow a film projector and actual movie reels from your local library and play black-and-white movies throughout the party for entertainment and ambience. Scatter silver star-shaped helium mylar balloons with long silver ribbons throughout and make a table centerpiece by stacking old movie reel tins in various sizes.

Make your own clapboard cake! Simply make a square sheet cake and decorate with black-and-white icing (click here to see a suggested design). Personalize your cake by filling in the clapboard fields (for example, after Production write John's Tenth Birthday; after Director write Mom and Dad and so on). Rent popcorn and soda machines and let kids help themselves throughout the party.
