How to Plan A Lunar New Year Party
How To:

Plan A Valentine's
Day Celebration

Valentine's Day gives children an opportunity to express love and affection for their family, friends and classmates. Add to that the chance to make fun crafts and enjoy some tasty treats, and you've got a holiday kids can't resist. Make the occasion even more special by hosting a kids' party. Whether you're planning a classroom celebration or an at-home fete, all you need is a few basic supplies and a touch of creativity to make it memorable for every little guest.

Stick with a rosy color scheme. Give your party a traditional Valentine's Day-feel by decorating in reds, pinks and whites. This time of year, you'll find plenty of options in stores, or you can create your own decor using construction paper and other craft materials. Make it even more festive by mixing and matching patterns, like polka dots, hearts and stripes.

Create a Valentine's Day-inspired menu. Use a cookie cutter to make everything from pizza to Heart and XO Sandwich Cookies. Red berries match the theme and make the perfect healthy snack. For dessert, go for classic Vanilla Cupcakes with Hearts – they're easy to make and always a hit with kids, and the buttercream frosting is irresistible. For a simple, edible party favor, follow our instructions for making Blooming Hearts Lollipops.

Go all out with a seasonal tabletop collection. Linens, plates and placemats that are alive with a Valentine's Day theme will bring a smile to kids' faces – and you (and your children) will love pulling them out for celebrations year after year.

Create an edible centerpiece and party favors. Ask any kid and they'll tell you: The best decorations are the ones you can eat! Display cupcakes on a cake tray or fill apothecary jars with jellybeans in your party colors. For guests, these Stamped Cookie Packages are a beautiful takeaway that little ones can enjoy later.

Give each child their own special place at the table. Personalized chair backers are a great way to designate a seat for every guest (plus, they're a convenient place to tuck small treats, favors and Valentine's Day cards and messages). Personalized Heart Straws help kids keep track of their own cups – and they also complement the party's decor.

Keep kids entertained with a craft or activity. Let little hands create fun designs with our Custom Potato Stamp activity and Heart Wreath craft. Or, get some basic craft materials – like markers, glitter, construction paper and doilies – and let them create their own Valentine's Day Cards. If possible, set up a separate area where craft projects can take place.
